Your membership in the Black Belt
Club at Griffin Martial Arts will open up a whole
Martial arts are an exciting activity that has a powerful impact on the lives
of its practitioners. However, that impact is in direct proportion to the level
of personal commitment you put forth toward earning your black belt.
EARNING A BLACK BELT REPRESENTS A NUMBER OF
IMPORTANT TRAITS
How important are those traits to you?
·
The black belt
represents high personal standards.
·
Black belts have high
levels of self-confidence in their ability to follow through and get the job
done despite any obstacles.
·
Black belts have razor
sharp focus and concentration shills.
·
Black bells are secure
in their ability to take care of themselves and feel no need to showoff or
brag.
·
Black belts understand
the importance of respect and courtesy.
·
Black belts develop
intense levels of self-discipline and self-control that aid them in all areas
of achievement.
·
Black belts finish
jobs. The world is full of great starters, but black belts realize that it's
the completion of the final 10 - 15 % of a project that separates the best of
us, from the rest of us.
·
Black belts are
healthy coordinated people who value their physical and mental well being. They
are less apt to fall into abusive habits that might threaten their sense of
wellness.
·
Black belts are
leaders. (Leadership training is an important aspect of advanced level training
in the martial arts.)
Black belts place a strong value
on contribution and service to others. Black belt training teaches that we can
have anything in life we want as long as we help as many people as possible
achieve what they want in life.
Membership Qualifications
The
Selection Process
Master Griffin is an experts at determining which students have the necessary
attributes for going "all the way." Based upon our experience, we
feel that students displaying the following three traits are the most likely
candidates for achieving a black belt.
Attitude
The first attribute is the black belt attitude. This is the never-quit attitude
of a winner. Students with the black belt attitude consistently maintain high
levels of positive self-expectancy in and out of the martial arts school.
Having this kind of attitude is critical for earning a black belt.
Attendance
The second attribute is attendance. Students with consistent class attendance
typically have the follow-through skills necessary for sticking to major goals.
Also, we have learned that good attendance is an indicator of strong self discipline,
another necessary quality for achieving black belt.
We realize that it's difficult to
change anyone technique or improve anyone area of life 100% overnight. Instead,
we seek to improve 100 little areas 1% each week. When achieved consistently,
these improvements will lead to fantastic mental and physical breakthroughs.
Clearly, this type of learning can only be accomplished through consistent
class attendance. That's why we only accept students with excellent attendance
into the Griffin Martial Arts Black Belt Club.
Commitment
The third attribute is a true commitment to earning a black belt. In many ways,
this attribute is the most important.
As a Black Belt Club school, we
have two levels of students. The first are the beginners who are in the midst
of their introduction to the exciting world of martial arts. These students are
considered entry-level students. Since they have not yet committed to earning a
black belt, they are only scheduled to attend a limited member of classes per
week and are not taught certain more advanced techniques.
Our second level students are
those individuals that have made the commitment to earn their black belt. These
students have demonstrated their long-term dedication to theme instructor and
school by becoming a member of the Black Belt Club. In turn, our instructors
will conduct specialized classes and enter into advanced training with these
students.
By nominating you to join the
Griffin Martial Arts Black Belt Club, we have determined that you have all
three of these attributes and more. We believe that you have what it takes to
earn your black belt, and we are willing to commit to providing you with the
leadership, guidance and skills necessary to get you there. The rest is up to
you.
